indie bands stand out!!

Have you guys ever heard about what indie means??
Well, b4 we explain that...there are two labels of music that we know.
Major and Independent or a.k.a Independent.
Major labels are record labels that are owned by big (major) companies such as Warner Music, Universal, or BMG.

And what about Independent??
different from Major labels, independent labels are so identical with indie bands, indie music, indie movement, and those things that are so independent without the intervention of second / third party (major labels).

Speaking of indie bands, there are so many bands nowadays exist. not only does America has their indie bands, indie bands around South East Asia also exist.
take for example...ehmmm..

Indonesia has their majority of indie bands such as Goodnight Electric, Mocca, Everybody Loves Irene, The Angelic Whisper, Zeke and The Popo, and a lot!!

Malaysia has their indie bands such as Hujan, Tempered Mental, The Times, Estrella, and others...

Adn other than those...The observatory from S'pore, Taken By Cars from Philipphine,FlumPool (who was from Indie Label) from Japan, Pru from Thailand...and others that cant be mentioned here becoz of not enough space to mention it..

All of those bands are all indie bands who have their characteristics, influences,and uniqueness. As a matter of fact...Mocca band from Indonesia has their own characteristics. a talented vocalist like Arina is so rare to be seen playing in otehr bands with her own flute. with a special gift from Allah, she also can play piano!!woww...dat's superb.

with the other personnels of Mocca Band (Riko as Guitarist, Toma as Bassist, and Indra as Drummer) they are now successfully bringing their influences to one of Indie bands in Malaysia, Estrella (whose genre is so similar like Mocca).

Historically, When Mocca Band went together in a college band, in 1997 they tried to play their own songs that should be matched with the girl's mood. along with their struggling, with their first single 'Secret Admirer', they successfully produced their debut album 'MY DIARY' which contains 13 songs.
And Time after time, Day by Day, Year by YEar...they also made succeed with 'go international' !!well it's not that international...but by their first visiting to Malaysia which held at Suria KLCC in 2006, they (again) successfully had a performance which currently held at Zouk, last August in 2008. and guess what...their upcoming event now is not only held in Malaysia..but they'll be performing at Mosaic Music Festival 2009, Singapore (7:00 pm)on 15 March 2009, and still at the same place, on 16 March 2009 (7.15 pm). you guys can check at their official website www.mymocca.com

Aonther promising indie band from Malaysia (that we've mentioned it before), estrella - is also one of indie bands that sucessfully make our ears to keep hearing their songs (mostly played at FLY FM, Malaysia), searching their band's name (at first), and later....we downloaded their song or bluetoothed their song from a friend, searched their lyrics, and keep playing their song along with memorizing their simple lyrics.hehehehe

with the formation of Vocalist (Liyana), Drummer (Jeff), Bassist (Arif), and Guitarist or Sessionist (Izzad), they produced their first single entitled 'stay' in 2007. not only that, similar with Mocca...Liyana also can play instrument which is Guitar. ...(if u dun believe..try check their VClip @ youtube)

first time we heard their 'stay' song...we thought that estrella comes from U.S / U.K.....hehehehe but later we realized that estrella is an indie band from Malaysia. with their influence from the beatles, the verve, smashing pumpkins, sade, sheila majid, and Ten 2 Five (Indonesian Band)...they can make people mesmerized with their songs: stay and ternyata.
